Our Purpose

Our Purpose

Play-Based Therapy is where we begin. In ABA, this may be referred to as Naturalistic Teaching. Children and Adolescents learn through play and active motivated engagement with presented activities. We believe in presenting learning through a play-based format and natural presence of instruction as much as possible. This is done with the following Lead Purposes embedded into every moment of therapy:

Self Advocacy

Teaching your child to state their needs and feel safe and confident as a learner.

Energy Based, Creativity in Therapy

We believe that the best way for therapy to be successful is by keeping the learner engaged. Key ingredients to this include changing up the environment, making play more engaging with therapist interaction, and matching energy levels to client needs.

Resiliency Training

Teaching the learner to be brave and adventurous while facing adverse scenarios – and succeeding while doing so through careful training implementation.

Data Driven Decisions

Every moment and trial of learning are important to establishing the repetition of skills that create neuropathways in the brain for long-term learning. We recognize that time is limited, and we are dedicated to make the most of our opportunities to grow you child’s skills.

Assessment

Assessment

Prior to beginning services, a 1:1 initial assessment must be completed. During this assessment, there are 3 potential activities to anticipate:

  1. Parent Interview

  2. Peer Referenced Assessments completed online

  3. 1:1 Child Interactions

All results will be communicated with you after the assessment. These results will be input into a treatment plan along with suggested goals and clinical recommendations for hours of therapy necessary for meaningful improvements.

Caregiver Training

Caregiver Training

It is clear from research and experience that without family involvement, outcomes are compromised. We offer parent training in a variety of models to find the best format that works for you including: sibling involvement, parent observations of sessions, direct meetings with parents, and parental implementation of therapy in community settings with clinician support. We actively initiate the involvement of parents and promote consultative models when intensive therapy is not needed.

Caregivers involved in training includes parents, of course! We also are invested in the rest of your caregiver group including siblings, grandparents, babysitters, teachers, and anyone else important in your child’s life!

Tele-health

Telehealth services are available after initial assessments are completed. These can be done in 2 formats:

  • Meet with the family for caregiver training and coaching on therapeutic interventions remotely.

  • Set up telehealth with therapist working 1:1 with the child in the home to minimize harm during these uncertain times by limiting the number of people within the home.

We can walk parents through the process of data collection remotely.  This is needed for the clinician to be effective in training families and to update child therapy needs. This can be done using available technology.
